At the end of what has been a challenging year, Governors at All Saints’ CE Primary School say they are thrilled to have received the latest set of initial pupil data showing fantastic progress and achievement across the school.
The Year 6 SATS results look set to be among the best on the Island and reflect the year-on-year improvements at the school over the past 3 years.
The news comes as it is announced that All Saints looks set to close in April next year, with all students moving across to Yarmouth Primary School.
In summary, all Year 6 children achieved the expected standard in reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling, with a number achieving the ‘higher standard’ in these subjects. Combined scores for the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics were achieved by an outstanding 90.9% of children (compared with 35% in 2016, 40% in 2017, 50% in 2018) with some children ranking as ‘high attainers’ in these subjects.
For younger children in the school, the percentage achieving the Early Years Foundation Stage ‘Good Level of Development’; the Year 1 Phonics Screen and the Year 2 expected and greater depth standard in reading and mathematics are above average for the Island, and for England as a whole.
Dr Catherine Powell, Chair of Governors, has said:
“These results reflect brilliantly on the hard work of the children, parents, teaching and support staff and the guidance and leadership of the headteacher.
“We should also acknowledge the support that has been provided by staff from the Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service and the impact of the Local Authority’s KS2 mathathematics project, funded by the Strategic School Improvement Fund. The results also reflect the ambitions of the Governors and our stated vision of ‘Supporting opportunities for all to achieve and succeed”.
