The 3 shortlisted charities are:

• Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

The charity exists to bring immediate, lifesaving critical care to patients when they need it most. The Air Ambulance flies 365 days a year, both day and night, 19 hours a day, providing an efficient, prompt response to road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

• The Rainbow Trust
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity’s vision is that one day all children on the Isle of Wight with a life threatening or terminal illness and their families will have access to a Family Support Worker. Their mission is to provide a Family Support Worker who is there for the whole family providing bespoke emotional and practical support, whenever, wherever and however they need it.

• Daisy Chains Isle of Wight

Provides children on the IOW who have been diagnosed with life limiting conditions, disabilities, or who have long term health problems with access to funding for travel, accommodation, therapies and treatments on the mainland. The charity also meets the cost of much needed equipment and sends gifts to children who are in hospital for a long time.

Shirley Anderson, HR director at Red Funnel, said:

“We’re delighted by the level of interest in our charity of the year competition which is now in its third year. It’s been incredibly hard to select a shortlist of three out of the very many worthy causes, and it will be fascinating to see who the public select as the winner to succeed this year’s charity, Ability Dogs for Young People.”

The public can vote for their choice by going to the website below. Voting closes on Sunday 11th December 2016 and the winning charity will be announced on Friday 16th December 2016.
