UPDATED: A number of properties in East Cowes have been cordoned off following a Police incident this morning (Wednesday).
Multiple Police and ambulance units are in attendance at Cromwell Avenue on the Hawthorn Meadows estate, where it is thought a person has been found with serious injuries.
Police have given an ambulance an escort to St Mary’s Hospital.
The area has been cordoned off and officers are conducting door to door enquiries. Detectives from Newport CID have arrived at the scene.
Emergency services responded to East Cowes at 10:45.
UPDATE @ 12:30 – Eye witnesses have claimed that a young child was carried into the ambulance before being rushed off to hospital, however Police are yet to make any comment on the incident.
A cordon surrounding the property at the center of investigations has been extended, but neighbours remain in the dark about what has exactly happened.
It has been confirmed to Island Echo that a family , including a young girl, live at the property.
Detectives and several Police officers are present at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this lunchtime.
UPDATE @ 13:10 – A forensic investigator has arrived at Cromwell Avenue to conduct an examination of the property.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to make a comment on the incident, however are expected to issue a statement shortly.
Residents living in the upper sections of Cromwell Avenue are being escorted through the cordon by PCSOs.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – Investigations continue this evening with a cordon still in place at Cromwell Avenue.
