With summer on the horizon, Wightlink is calling for people who love the Isle of Wight to share their passion with the world.
The cross-Solent ferry company is launching I Love Wight Because – a competition to highlight everything that’s wonderful about the Isle of Wight with staycation treats and travel prizes.
Proud Island residents and happy holidaymakers alike are invited to make short selfie smartphone videos (maximum 15 seconds) explaining why they love the Isle of Wight. Wightlink will share the best on social media to spread the word far and wide that holidays on the Island are unbeatable.
There’s a lot to talk about. From miles of beautiful beaches and cycleways to award-winning restaurants, fantastic attractions for the whole family and plenty of dinosaurs, the Isle of Wight has something for everyone. Wightlink will be running frequent sailings on three routes from Portsmouth and Lymington this summer.
I Love Wight Because videos should be posted on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with the hashtag #ilovewightbecause. Wightlink will collate the best ones on a gallery wall.
The competition will run until Saturday, 31 July 2021.
First prize is Wightlink ferry travel and a five-night stay with Away Resorts in the UK for up to 6 people (the Isle of Wight is an option, of course).
Second prize is Wightlink ferry travel and a Ferrari 458 Spider PLUS+ Driving Experience at Thruxton, and third prize is Wightlink ferry travel and a Gin Cocktail Masterclass at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire.
There will be also be spot prizes of ferry vouchers throughout the contest.

Gimmicks eh!,try dropping your prices to make people happier.
How about running the ferry service you are supposed to be doing before asking for customers to bail you out with contributions?
What a load of rubbish? Wightlink don’t care about anything but profits. They don’t care about commuters, or they would have put the fast cats back on. Their prices are disgusting. Bring on the fixed link.
If Wightlink are promoting the Isle of Wight why are two of the prizes a Ferrari 458 Spider PLUS+ Driving Experience at Thruxton, and third prize a Gin Cocktail Masterclass at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire.
Because they don’t care about the island and definitely don’t support island businesses. They only care about their profits for their shareholders
Wightlink, always the quickest, most expensive routes to the island. Upholding a tradition of maximum exploitation and marketing insults. Shame on you for such brazen rubbish.
