Supporting people develop skills to improve their own wellbeing is the aim of a series of free, pop-in sessions being held by experts at Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Anyone with a life-limiting illness, as well as their friends, family and carers, are welcome to join the sessions which take place every Wednesday from 1st February 2017, between 13:00 and 14:00 in the John Cheverton Centre. A wide range of support is on offer, from advice on eating well and encouraging exercise to coping with breathlessness and financial help.
Sessions are led by our specialist staff and offer a safe and supportive environment to discuss and explore ways to improve general wellbeing. Past participants have found previous sessions very useful, with comments including “It was relaxed and interactive”, “I learnt a lot of tips about how to keep my skin in good order” and “I felt rejuvenated!”
Sally List, Social Worker at Earl Mountbatten Hospice, said:
“The sessions aim to improve wellbeing for those with a life-limiting illness providing information, tips and support to enable each person to better manage their life-limiting illness. Led by our expert staff, they seek to offer a safe and supportive environment to discuss and explore ways to improve general wellbeing.”
Age UK are also supporting some of the sessions by offering free falls assessments (see details below), with the opportunity to book a falls’ assessment in people’s own homes.
Refreshments will be available before and after the sessions in our Sunflower Cafe. If you have any questions, or would like to find out more, contact Sally List on (01983) 529511 extension 368. Booking on to a session is essential; please contact Chris Martin on (01983) 217304.
