To snatch top spot from Andover New Street, the County Town club need to win all their 4 remaining games and hope New Street fail to win any of their 3 remaining fixtures.
Only the top club in Wessex Division 1 are automatically promoted to the Wessex Premier. Teams in positions 2 to 5 compete for promotion in the play offs.
Newport are already assured of a play off place.
