Police on the Isle of Wight are investigating an alleged assault on a senior member of Council staff at Ryde Harbour last week.
Officers were called to the Esplanade at around 14:00 on Friday 12th July following reports of an assault.
Although no arrests were made at the time of the incident – and no one has been arrested since – investigations are said to be ongoing.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said:
“We take the safety and welfare of our employees extremely seriously.
“We will do all that we can to ensure that our staff are safe to do their jobs without fear of violence or intimidation.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further while a police investigation continues”.
Island Echo understands that the incident involved a berth holder at Ryde.
