Police on the Isle of Wight are investigating at least 7 reports of counterfeit £20 notes in circulation today (Monday).
Officers have been made aware that the dodgy notes are being used, or attempted to be used, in shops locally on what is the first day of trading in 12 weeks for a large number of retailers.
The notes appear genuine but are marked with the wording ‘this is not legal, it is to be used for motion props‘. The serial number also reads ‘motion props’.
Police are urging cashiers to check notes and report any fakes via 101.

7 accounts, in a world of big brother, CCTV cameras and there were no arrests ? Come on police…do your job !
It be hard for police if shop assistant had accepted it and not realised until end of day. Cameras not monitored either.
Hard on shops which are struggling as it is.
