Police are asking parents to keep an eye on your children after school and during the evenings following numerous reports of children climbing onto roofs around Newport.
Officers are repeatedly being called to reports of children climbing onto roof areas of business premises in Newport Town Centre.
This act of behaviour is not only dangerous for those involved, but it is also costing businesses money to repair damaged roofs caused by their actions.
The photographs included in this article were taken by a member of the public and sent into the Police.
PCSOs will be monitoring the situation and take action where required, according to Hampshire Constabulary.
A spokesperson on the Isle of Wight Police Facebook page has said:
“I don’t need to highlight the danger of this as it is obvious but please if you suspect your children may be doing this explain the dangers again to them.
“We will be visiting the parents of any children we find up here and we will also deal with any damage caused.
“We really don’t want to see any serious injuries to these children 😢”

Good luck in finding the parents there probably socially…. distancing
Likely ‘only’ muver is known to them. Plenty of uncles though. Decent kids wouldn’t act like this.
One expects the child has too much Marmalade for breakfast.
my god …shock horror – that kid in picture three must be all of 5 feet up – what is the matter with these snowflakes and the snowflake police – kids for generations used to go tree climbing – stop treating these kids like babies – they are exploring the world around them, just like everyone else did.
whiny little snowflakes get a grip, they are kids, being kids – leave them alone.
Unless it was your roof being damaged. No small wonder that we have such trash around, with attitudes like yours.
‘Only kids’ has been used too often as an ‘excuse’ for low life behaviour, be it jumping on a car, vandalising property, stealing, and even knife crime.
IF a child is old enough to be out without parents, it should have enough savvy to know right from wrong, that or it has been dragged up, not bought up, but then, only those ‘bought up’ would know that.
bran – give it a rest – a very small minority of kids damage stuff and they will do that no matter what you say.
Kids aren’t that daft and most are far more intelligent than your derisory attitude towards them credits them with.
stop whining – it your sort of whiny little snowflake attitude that has got this country in the weak and pathetic state it is in.
Trespass, criminal damage, all good eh?
Those who have social housing don’t see life the same as others who have to pay for their own repairs, and have to claim off their own costly insurance for other people’s clones to ruin property.
They just phone up Spectrum, then moan because they don’t arrive instantly, that is the ‘end’ of their effort when something is damaged.
Charity subsidised never see the world the same as those who pay their own way in life, and it is often their delights which cause the most damage in society.
I live in a housing association house, work my ass off and my kids have NEVER thought of trespassing … btw 2 of my kids have jobs too and work their asses off!
Moana, I don’t doubt that. Not everyone in social housing is bad, but, I still say I expect those involved will be from such and bought up on several benefits.
You are hardly ever going to get the majority of low life come on here an agree with my assumptions are you? So only decent people post, making it look like they are the unfairly targeted when that may well not be the case with the ‘silent’ majority keeping quiet.
Makes me womder what all these moaners commenting on this did when they were kids, stayed indoors all day by the look of it,or is it selective memory and they did nothing wrong what so ever when they were kids
Well I never ran on peoples rooves, nor did Mona or her children and I wager the majority of normal people’s children.
These ‘sort’ are tomorrows prison fodder.
Be different if it was your roof
Give it a rest with the snowflake crap you sound ridiculous
Photos can be deceiving, and a fall from even a small hight can kill if you head goes splat on the ground
I thought the plural of roof is rooves.
Second question- do you care where your children are when you are down the pub?. The answer is probably – haven’t you lot got anything better to do than to pick on my kids!
Snipers that’s what you need
Old bean, NO that is what I first thought. That is not an Afro hair cut, it is a black blob to hide the face of the young tearaway. If you look closely the legs are Caucasian. So snippers and a hair cut would do little to deter it.
I think you’ve read it wrong , he said snipers not snippers .
Perhaps they need a motorcross track!
To learn how to ride, then steal a bike, ride underage so untouchable, and then torch it on St Georges down? Fun for the low life I guess before getting into more serious crime. Unless it is your property.
