The Isle of Wight Council has approved a planning application for the development of 12 homes on the site of the former Savoy hotel in Sandown.
A total of 4x 2-bedroom houses and 8x 3-bedroom houses are set to be built on the land at the junction of Victoria Road and Avenue Road.
Owners IW Hotels Ltd have been told that work must begin within the next 3 weeks, but no work shall begin until further details about landing and visibility splays have been submitted and approved by the local authority. A number of trees will also have to be relocated.
It was almost 2 years ago that the derelict and dangerous Savoy building was pulled to the ground, as previously reported by Island Echo.
For the 12 properties there will be space for 16 cars and 8 cycles.
