The application by Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd seeks permission to demolish existing buildings and construct a new 2/3 storey building to provide a 600 place secondary school.
Under the plans, internal square footage would drop from 11,000 to 5,073 and there would be 11 fewer employees at Carisbrooke College.
The school building would be primarily built up of 3 areas: the dining, drama and main hall; the teaching wing and the sports hall.
It was only 18 months ago that children, parents and staff protested outside County Hall to fight against the closure of the school. The school was saved.
Residents have until 9th December to comment on the plans at https://www.iwight.com/planning/AppDetails3.aspx?frmId=31990.
