On Saturday 23rd September, Isle of Wight Day, there will be a special concert given by The Phoenix Choir at All Saints Church, Ryde in aid of Street and School Pastors.
The 50-strong mixed Phoenix Choir will be singing their normal wide ranging programme which will include songs from musicals Les Miserables and Paint Your Wagon, Westlife’s You Raise Me Up, Bette Midler’s The Rose, Men of Harlech from the film Zulu and a new arrangement of music from the film Gladiator.
Street & School Pastors are a group of about 70 volunteers from over 30 island churches whose aim is to be a listening, caring, helping presence on the streets late at night. They are not there to preach but to help and have been commended by the Police for assisting in the reduction of violent crimes significantly on a Friday & Saturday night.
There will be a raffle and interval drinks available. Admission is free with a retiring collection.
The concert commences at 19:30.
