Monkey Haven on the outskirts of Newport are hosting a party next Friday (28th October) in celebration of being shortlisted for one of the most prestigious awards in Tourism.
Monkey Haven has been judged to be one of the best places to visit in the South of England, reaching the final 4 in 2016’s Beautiful South Tourism Awards for the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year. There were a record number of entries – 179 from across the South of England – and Monkey Haven was the only attraction on the Isle of Wight to be selected for this hotly contested category.
In celebration of the achievement, the rescue centre will be hosting a little party on Friday 28th October from midday. The day also marks Bog the Siamang’s 14th birthday, so guests can enjoy cake, sing ‘happy birthday’ and watch the birthday boy open his pressies and tuck into a picnic with his pals.
The charity for rescued animals will be presented with a Gold, Silver or Bronze award at a ceremony with Heart FM’s Toby Anstis on 24th November at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
A spokesperson for the Beautiful South Awards commented:
“The judging took account of the entry form, along with a combination of web searches, review sites, emails, telephone calls and/or visits, value for money, plus all available additional evidence. For the finalists, the panel was looking for all elements of the business to be excellent, with some of them outstanding.”
Don Walser, Founder of Monkey Haven, commented:
“We’re all so pleased about this, you can really feel the buzz at the Haven and we’re looking forward to celebrating on Friday 28th October from noon. We hope that you will join us.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who’s helped us this year, and also kept us as the Island’s Number One attraction on TripAdvisor for the second year running. We owe everything to our supporters who love our rescued animals as much as we do!”
