A prisoner who is serving a 10-year stretch for raping a teenage girl and sexually assaulting another has written a letter to complain about the price of mackerel, olive oil and coffee at HMP Isle of Wight, report the Mirror.co.uk.
26-year-old Adam Marchment is serving his time behind bars at Parkhurst prison in Newport, where he says prisoners are being ‘ripped off’ as they pay more for food behind bars than on the High Street.
The child rapist has wrote a letter to the inmates magazine ‘Inside Time’, in which he states Nescafe coffee original (150g) is £2.99 on the outside but food supplier DHL sells it to prisoners for £3.99. Extra virgin olive oil is priced at £1.99 for 500ml on the High Street, but at HMP Isle of Wight it’s £1.99 for 250ml.
It’s going to be a long time before Marchment will be able to buy mackerel and coffee in Tesco though… he was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment for the rape of a 15-year-old girl and 1 year for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, to run consecutively, back in April last year.
