Pan Lane in Newport has been from its junction with Pan Garage to its junction with Godric Road for a distance of 167 metres.
The road has been closed for the interest of pedestrian safety.
The diversion will be signed locally. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
The closure is from 10:30 hours on 27th March 2020, for a maximum period of twenty-one days.
If you have any queries regarding the above please contact Island Roads on 01983 822440.

Why is it closed
Probably because vehicle drivers were not taking due care of pedestrians having to use the road
To allow distancing between pedestrians during the virus crisis. The existing walkway does not allow this.
Stupid not to have put in a pavement when the major works were done. As it was , it had to be made ‘one way’ for the very same reason.
It seems that the Islands inbred drivers see the barriers as something to be pushed aside to reopen the road just for them. Pedestrians were forced to make way as a car totally ignored everything and simply barged its way through. Not only was the road previously one way before the closure but even that seems to be something to be ignored. It is only a matter of time before somebody is hurt if a more permanent solution isn’t applied.
