HRD Auction Rooms have announced that November’s auction will not be going ahead due to the second lockdown.
It looks like Paddington Bear won’t be getting a new home this month after Boris made his announcement of the second lockdown at the weekend.
In a comedic post on HRD Auction Rooms Facebook page, accompanied by a photo of Paddington Bear, the company said:
“Things are always happening to me. I’m that sort of bear” Said Paddington.
Managing director Warren Riches replied: “Don’t worry, It’s only temporary – we’ll be back soon. In fact, we intend to hold our next auction on the revised date of Tuesday 15th December.”
The bear puffed out its chest and replied: “I’m a very rare sort of bear, there aren’t many of us left where I come from.”
Warren smiled: “That’s why we intend to spend the next three days cataloguing our next auction, and spend the month of November promoting you and the 700+ other lots that’ll be ready and waiting. We’ll find you a good home.”
Paddington looked up to see that Warren Riches had been joined by the rest of his team. There were Rex and Daniel, Charlene and Jan, Jamie D, Jamie F, Paul and Steve. They were all smiling back at him.
Paddington paused. “I think I may paint a family portrait today… That is, if I have enough paint left for all the smiles.”
HRD’s next auction will now take place on Tuesday 15th December.
We hope this brought a bit of light-hearted humour to our readers, it did us.

Humour is important now more than ever.
Must say I miss the auctions at Shanklin auction rooms, great character place, and auctioneers and team. Very ‘Isle of Wight’.
