Osborne Coburg Reserves play Niton Community Reserves in the final of the Junior B Cup this evening at Beatrice Avenue with a 19:30 kick off.
Osborne Coburg are fortunate to have made the final without winning a game, having lost to Ventnor in the semi final. However, Ventnor were disqualified from the competition for fielding an ineligible player.
The Burg are favourites, having beaten Niton twice in the league and finishing higher in the table (2nd v 4th).
Niton team manager Craig Ross has said:
“We go into the game as underdogs based on the 2 results in the league, but I’ve got a fantastic bunch of lads who will be giving it their best shot.
“However, anything can happen in the cup, and if we play to our full potential, then I am confident we will give ourselves every chance of winning.”
For Osborne Coburg, Reserve Team Manager Peter Merrett has said:
“I think we stand a very good chance and will go into the game like we have every game this season. I believe in this group of lads to do Coburg proud.
“This is a night the lads deserve after the season they’ve had and to finish holding the trophy will top off a great season.”
The destination of this season’s Isle of Wight Division 1 title is likely to be decided on Tuesday evening.
Leaders Shanklin are currently a point above 2nd placed W&B with 2 games of the season remaining.
Shanklin travel to bogey team Brading (who drew 0-0 at the County Ground in the corresponding fixture); W&B face 3rd-placed Cowes Sports Reserves at Westwood Park.
In their final games, both Shanklin and W&B play bottom club Ryde Saints.

The 2nd promotion place in Division 2 will be decided on Wednesday evening when Niton and High Park face off at Nine Acres.
High Park are 3 points behind Vics Reserves but have a far superior goal difference. A win would see the Ryde-based side promoted.
A large crowd is expected for this game.
Niton manager Ben Howell has said:
“We’re in it to win it. The lads are all keen to play and get the result. We are not paying too much attention to any of the promotion antics of High Park or East Cowes Vics.
“All we want from the match is 3 points.”
High Park manager Stuart Woodmore chose not to comment.
