Visitors have the opportunity to meet local artists, see their work and find out more about the techniques they use and the passions which inspire them.
‘Open Studios’ is a free event and each venue will offer you a warm welcome to view and purchase a great range of work including paintings, sculpture, printmaking, photography, textiles, jewellery and ceramics.
To highlight the event, 60 Island artists have brought their work together in an exhibition at the West Gallery, Quay Arts. This exhibition gives a taste of just what is in store if you choose to visit a studio or collaboration exhibition in a special venue.
Gill Clarke is one such artist displaying her work in painting and ceramic form. Gill has several pieces on display at the Quay Arts exhibition but is looking forward to welcoming visitors to her studio in Castle Road, Newport where a full selection of her work is on show.
Amongst the artists showing their works at the Quay Arts exhibition are Tony Westmore, Martin Swan and Pat Clarke who will be joining others at 3 different public venues to display their work.
There is certainly something for all tastes at this showcase exhibition which runs until 27th July but for a full collection of artists work is awaiting in their own studios.
For artists, Open Studios is a unique opportunity to manage their own event, exhibit work and demonstrate their working processes.
Open Studios are as varied as you can imagine being in an artist’s home, workroom or garden, in purpose-made studios or in public venues. The beauty of visiting several studios is that each is unique, with its own charm – you can be sure to have a warm welcome and to come away feeling inspired.
Most venues will be open from 10:00 to 17:00 each day. See the brochure for variations of days and times venues are open.
