Islanders undertaking a spring clean of their homes or gardens will be able to take advantage of changes to the Isle of Wight Council’s tips from today (Monday).
Social distancing measures and restrictions on the number of visits that members of 1 household could make to the civic amenities were introduced in response to the coronavirus pandemic – but new rules mean that residents will now be able to visit the sites once a week for the disposal of waste.
As of today, 2 people will now also be able to unload a vehicle.
The centres, at Lynbottom and Afton Marsh, are still running a booking system, and Islanders who do not book ahead will be refused entry to the sites.

Whenever I’ve been in the past, I have seen two people unloading cars/vans….
Well I hope you ran off and told teacher?
nice way to promote fly tipping what’s with this greedy council
The Booking system is still not working, sunday afternoon the road was blocked with cars. we were blocked way back past the rounderbout by the pub, unable to move for half hour. the staff do nothing to stop the road block.we were trying to get to haven street and home.
Will it go back to the old system in June when lock down ends
What like the temp £1 parking overnight a few years ago now up to £2 a few years later. Don’t hold your breath this council will do anything to disrupt and take as much as they can. Yeah
Well this will increase fly tipping, why don’t the tip management try thinking . Just booking a tip slot is a pain because when you get there , your in a 2 hour queue . Fantastic organisation. Not!!!!
