1st Newport Isle of Wight Scout Group – known as The Old Guard – are holding a reunion to celebrate 110 years of the group this February.
All former members are invited along to the HQ at Woodbine Close to meet old Scouting friends and colleagues, to reminisce and bring souvenirs, photos and memories for what is set to be an historic evening.
Newport’s ‘The Old Guard’ is one of the oldest surviving groups in the country and, therefore, by definition, probably the world.
The Group Museum will be open along with photo albums and items on display from the archive. Old films/DVD footage will be shown and Scouting memorabilia will be on sale.
The Reunion will take place on Saturday 10th February starting at 19:00 and will be held at The Wendes Hall, 1st Newport IW Scout Group Headquarters, Woodbine Close, off St John’s Road, Newport.
This is a free event and you won’t need a ticket, but donations will be collected on the door with all funds going towards the group.
Contact can be made with the group on [email protected].
