An OAP has been remanded in custody, to appear before the Crown Court in June, after allegedly pulling a knife out and threatening a member of the public at McDonalds in Newport yesterday (Thursday).
Police responded to Scarrotts Lane in the heart of Newport at around 16:30 yesterday afternoon when 70-year-old Malcolm Swann, of no fixed abode, is alleged to have pulled out a knife and threatened a person.
Swann’s arrest follows an ‘altercation’ at the fast food restaurant, which was witnessed by a number of people.
Appearing before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning, Malcolm Swann was remanded in custody for threatening a person with a blade or a sharp pointed article in a public place and using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.
