NO MORE ISLE OF WIGHT DAY BUNTING TO BE PRODUCED TO MINIMISE USE OF PLASTIC

In the spirit of taking care of the planet and minimising use of plastics, organisers of Isle of Wight Day have taken the decision not to produce any more bunting this year.

Islanders are being urged to re-use any bunting that has been retained from previous years, or to make their own from fabric or other recyclable materials. Bunting making workshops and competitions will be taking place in the run up to Isle of Wight Day – dates to be confirmed.

Keeping with the plastic-saving theme, Isle of Wight Day are working alongside Plastic Aware, who head up the Refill scheme across the Island. All Islanders out and about enjoying the festivities over the Isle of Wight Day weekend are encouraged to take their reusable bottles and cups and fill up at the establishments taking part, where you will be offered free water when you bring along a reusable cup.

Volunteers and Ambassadors are being sought to help organise the Island’s biggest ever beach clean. With 67 miles of coastline to clean, all hands are required on deck. To join the team, head to www.isleofwightday.com.
