Niton’s inaugural farmers market is to be held this Saturday (9th June) with the Island’s High Sheriff performing the opening ceremony.
The market is the latest venture to be launched at the village’s volunteer-led Community Hub, which also houses the library and a cinema.
High Sheriff Mrs Gioia Minghella-Giddens will cut the ribbon at 10:00. The market will initially run monthly until shortly before Christmas.
Volunteer leader Eleanor Bowen said local businesses have been severely hit by the closure of Undercliff Drive, and it is hoped that the market, showcasing high-quality local produce, will attract a greater footfall into the village and therefore benefit the whole community.
