The Isle of Wight NHS Trust has recognised a group of individuals who have made a significant contribution to healthcare on the Island, including 2 Patient Transport Officers who saved the life of a patient by recognising the seriousness of the patient’s condition and diverting their vehicle to the Emergency Department.
Speaking after the Trust Board meeting on Wednesday 8th February 2017, Chief Executive Officer Karen Baker said:
“As a former nurse and midwife I know the extraordinary lengths our staff go to delivering caring services to Islanders. Each month we take the opportunity to recognise individuals who have gone the extra mile or set a great example for colleagues.
“Particular congratulations to Midwife Danielle Coombes and Cancer Nurse Emmaline Cornwell who were nominated by a patients and carers as ‘Employee of the Month’ for October and November 2016. Week in week out our staff strive to do their very best for patients and it is important that we take the time to appreciate those who are outstanding at what they do for us all.”
