Visitors taking a look at the RNLI’s Yarmouth All Weather lifeboat (ALB) were forced to abandon their visit as the lifeboat had to attend a real shout during the Yarmouth Old Gaffers’ Festival yesterday (Saturday).
The volunteer Yarmouth lifeboat crew were tasked to assist the 30ft yacht ‘Mable’ – with 2 people on board – aground on the rocks off Hamstead Ledge 2 miles east of Yarmouth.
Once on the scene, the lifeboat launched their Y-Boat and managed to secure a line in order to tow the ‘Mable’ into deeper water. Having established that no damaged had been sustained, the yacht continued on her way to Hamble.
