Celebrate 80 is coming to Newport with a parade through town with marching bands, jeeps and veterans on Saturday (14th June).
The free event, organised by Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council, will be celebrating 80 years since the end of WW2.
The parade, organised by the Royal British Legion, will be leaving Quay Street at 10:15, heading up to St Thomas’ Square past the war memorial, right onto Pyle Street, up to The Mall then right down Recreation Ground Road onto the site at Victoria Rec.
The event at Victoria Recreation Ground is from 10:00 to 16:00, and there will be something for everyone, with the Bob Howarth Big Band, classic vehicles, 40s themed displays, vintage amusement rides, jive lessons and a children’s NERF arena.
