Newport Men’s Novice crew had a successful trip to Southampton’s Woolston Regatta on Sunday. The regatta had been rearranged from 2 weeks earlier when strong winds had led to its postponement. This week, crews found Southampton Water surprisingly calm. Newport had several close races this season where they were just pipped for the coveted 1st place, but they were fired up to make this event theirs. They led from start to finish, turning first at the buoy, and consolidating their lead in the 2nd half of the race. The crew of Carl Nordbruch, Chris Clarke, Ed Hopper, and Jake Garner was once again expertly coxed by Mariana Hare.
