A 50-year-old man from Newport has been handed a 12-month community order by Magistrates after being caught masturbating in his car by neighbours.
Paul Brendon Mew was caught pleasuring himself in broad daylight in his car outside his home on Sylvan Drive on 22nd December last year.
Police were called to the address and he was later charged with outraging public decency, contrary to common law – a charge he admitted at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 5th July.
Appearing back before the court on Friday, Magistrates fined Mew £270 and handed him a 12-month community order with a requirement to complete 15 rehabilitation days.
The court heard how Mew had co-operated with Police and had admitted to the offence – which was his first. Defending solicitor Liz Miller explained that the incident was a wake-up call for Mew.
