Newport have further improved their squad by signing combative midfielder and dead-ball specialist Harrison Taylor from East Cowes Vics.
This follows the resigning of midfielder Lewis Wright, who has been out of the game for a couple of years, the signing of centre-forward Nicky Vyse from Shanklin, and the return of prolific scorer Joe Craig.
It is understood Harri Taylor was unhappy with the amount of playing time he was getting on the pitch with Vics under Alex Smith’s squad rotation system.
Last season, Harri Taylor picked up East Cowes Vics’ First Team Player of the Year award.
Newport (IoW) Football Club have said:
“The club are really pleased to confirm the signing of central midfielder Harri Taylor, who wraps up a great trio of signings since the weekend.
“With no first team game this weekend, we will have to wait until next month to see him running out in the yellow and blue, and we can’t wait…..
“Good to have you with us Harri….. UTP”
Harri Taylor’s former club East Cowes Vics have written:
“The club would like to confirm the departure of Harrison Taylor.
“Harry was a key part of the team’s revival in the latter part of last season, scoring multiple outstanding goals and producing numerous key moments which will always sit fondly in our memories.
“In this season’s more competitive squad, however, he has been unable to secure the number of minutes he desires and has therefore made the decision to move on in search of more playing time.
“All the best, Harry.”
