The Folly in Whippingham has installed a new permanent marquee, which is set to open with a bang.
Owners Old English Inns have invested in a new structure which will allow all year round use of the pub’s garden and create a function area for events. The team at the Folly, which is situated on the River Medina, is hosting a Hawaiian luau on Bank Holiday Monday (26th May) to officially open the tent.
The addition of the ‘event tent’ marks the end of a period of transformation for the Folly, which was substantially refurbished last year.
Manager Michelle Moody commented:
“This is an incredibly versatile structure which allows us to use our outside space in all weathers. It can be completely open on hot days and on windier, colder days the sides will provide the necessary shelter.
“With the beautiful views of the river we have already had many enquiries from people wanting to use the structure for functions. We are calling it the ‘event tent’!”
Peter Hebblethwaite, business unit director for Old English Inns, commented:
“The Folly has a first rate location and adding this marquee was a no brainer for us. It gives our customers the ability to enjoy socialising outside during whatever the English weather is throwing at them.”
The launch event is free and will include live music from a steel band during the day and live music from band ‘Switch’ in the evening. A BBQ will be running and cocktails served from a tiki bar. The usual menu of classic pub dishes, including daily fish specials, will be available.
