The new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Isle of Wight Council were appointed at the annual meeting of the Council on Wednesday (15th May).
Councillor George Cameron was welcomed into the role as Chairman, taking over from Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox.
Long-standing councillor Shirley Smart was appointed Vice Chairman.
Committee chairs were also appointed on Wednesday evening, as follows:
• Corporate scrutiny committee — Councillor Andrew Garratt
• Policy and scrutiny committee for children’s services, education and skills —Councillor Vanessa Churchman
• Policy and scrutiny committee for health and social care — Councillor John Nicholson
• Policy and scrutiny committee for neighbourhoods and regeneration — Councillor Michael Beston
• Audit committee — Councillor Brian Tyndall
• Planning committee — Councillor Christopher Quirk
• Licensing committee — Councillor Charles Chapman
• Appeals committee — Councillor John Kilpatrick
• IW pension fund committee — Councillor Adrian Axford
