Plans for Ryde Inshore Rescue’s inaugural New Year’s Day swim are continuing to develop as the big day approaches.

The brand new event is being held at Appley beach on Monday (1st January 2018) and will see swimmers plunge into the Solent to raise vital funds for the independent lifeboat station.

Activities get underway at 10:00 with a safety briefing for all swimmers before a special search and rescue demonstration is carried out involving both lifeboats. At 10:30 the launch tractor will sound its horn for the start of the swim. Councillor Wayne Whittle has kindly agreed to start proceedings.
