The annual Miles for Smiles event, which gives fun passenger rides to the children of the YMCA Young Carers, St George’s School and Beaulieu Respite Centre, will be taking place on the Isle of Wight this coming Saturday (9th December).

Luxury cars of all shapes and sizes will descend on YMCA Winchester House, Shanklin for 10:15 on Saturday morning before making their way, in convoy, to St George’s School in Newport from 12:00. It’s here that children from St George’s and Beaulieu House will then get to experience their special passenger ride.

The Sporting Bears Motor Club are all volunteers who give up their time, fuel and travel expenses to either raise money for children’ charities, or, as in this case, put smiles on the faces of disadvantaged children.

Once again Wightlink Ferries have sponsored the event by helping to transport cars across the Solent that are attending from all over the South of England and beyond.

Weather permitting, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be arriving at St George’s School with Father Christmas to give out sweets to the children.
