The Romans are through to the 4th Round of the Memorial Cup after beating Cowes Sports Reserves on penalties at Westwood Park.
The 1st half was a tight affair with both sides having good periods of possession without creating any real clear cut chances.
Half time: Cowes Sports Reserves 0-0 Brading Town
Cowes took the lead thanks to a fortunate ricochet and a simple finish for George Holmes (1-0).
The Romans then levelled the scores when Dan Vale was brought down in the box for a penalty. Vale confidently despatched the resulting spot kick (1-1).
The game finished with Brading on top and Todd Connor having a header cleared off the line.

And so to penalties …
Brading’s Aaron Bennett was 1st up and blazed wildly over the bar. Cowes’ 1st pen rolled well wide of the post.
The Roman’s next penalty taker drilled it high into the net before Cowes missed theirs by hitting the bar.
No 4 Tim Shaw converted Brading’s 3rd before Tom Vokins pulled off a stunning save from the Yachtsmen’s 3rd kick.
The Romans’ Scott Lawson then stepped up knowing he could win the tie and found the top corner.
Penalties: Cowes Sports Reserves 0-3 Brading Town
After the game, winning manager Steve Lawton said:
“I’m delighted with the performance today: we played some excellent stuff and showed a lot of character after falling behind.
“The Team performance was very good indeed, and it’s hard to pick out a man-of-the-match: the full backs were outstanding and Chip looked superb before his injury.”

Ryde Saints 0-4 Oakfield
Bottom-of-the-table Saints are still seeking their 1st points of the season after going down to Oakfield in the Ryde derby.
