Medina College are celebrating after taking a strong second place in Day 2 of the 2017 Rock Challenge, which took place in Portsmouth last night (Tuesday).
The Newport-based school’s performance of ‘Together, we can change the world’, which told the story Malala, a Pakistani activist for female education rights, impressed the judges enough to take a podium place.
Awards of Excellence were also awarded to Medina for Choreography, Performance Skill, Stage Use, Set Design and Function, Costuming Character, Lighting, Stage Crew and Video Performance. Students also scooped the Be Your Best Foundation Award for Student Leadership.
Another Island school also took to the stage at the Guildhall yesterday, with Sandown Bay Academy taking home the Ian Wright Consulting Award for Spirit of Rock Challenge. Their performance ‘Perilous Harbour’ was based on the events of Pearl Harbour in 1941.
