Wightlink’s Fast Cat catamaran service has been hit by a mechanical issue this afternoon (Friday) as commuters head home for the weekend.
Due to what is understood to be an engine issue with one of the Wight Ryder vessels, a number of sailings have been cancelled or amended.
It has been announced that the 16:40 sailing from Portsmouth Harbour and both the 17:10 and 19:15 sailings from Ryde Pier Head have been cancelled.
A charter vessel will be running the 17:40 and 18:40 sailings from Portsmouth, and the 18:10 from Ryde.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 09:15 – Due to a mechanical issue on Wight Ryder 2, Wightlink say they are running an hourly service throughout today on the Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour FastCat service.

UPDATE SATURDAY @ 16:30 – Wightlink have now advised that the hourly service will continue on Sunday.
Sailings will operate XX:15 past the hour from Portsmouth Harbour and XX:47 past the hour from Ryde.
All booked customers will travel on the next available sailing
UPDATE SUNDAY @ 20:10 – Due to the ongoing mechanical issue on Wight Ryder 2, an hourly service will continue until Wednesday 24th July.
