Islanders have gone weeks without a 99p cheeseburger or the much-loved Big Mac, but the wait is almost over as it has been announced today (Wednesday) that McDonald’s will re-open all drive-thrus next week.
New procedures are being put in place to enable safe working, with fewer employees working in the kitchen and in service areas. Unfortunately, this means a limited menu will be on offer and there will be a maximum spend of £25.
It’s known that wraps and milkshakes will not be available, alongside other items.
McDonald’s Ryde will re-open at some point between Tuesday and Thursday, but the fast-food giant won’t reveal when exactly until the morning itself. Motorists should expect long queues winding down Brading Road with the potential for the store to close if the demand gets too high.
Customers will be urged to use contactless payment where possible.

Can we not ignore this – this is not news it is advertising….! What about supporting local restaurants and coffee shops, pubs doing takeaway food, etc instead..?
What about cooking healthily at home using ingredients sourced locally from The IoW Meat Company, Island Tomatoes etc etc etc..?
THIS IS NOT NEWS – IT IS ADVERTISING…!!!
You need to stay in lockdown for a very long time.
Guessed as much when a McD’s lorry went past a couple of days ago. Not long before we can expect to see their packaging littering up our streets and countryside. Joy
yes – double cheeseburger to take away soon
I suppose the road will be choked up with the very same locusts who stripped the supermarket shelves. What have they been eating in the last 2 months, toilet paper????
no tony – us locusts, as you so eloquently put it, have full larders, cupboards and freezers, however, we will be off out to maccy d’s to get takeaways, before having a hearty main meal from our smorgasboard of choice at home.
The mountains of toilet paper we have is still being worked through and we will top up soon.
we do not go without.
Quite true – still got 384 toilet rolls to get through and 2 chest freezers of Turkey twizzlers, mccain finest chips, 143 pizzas, 673 chicken (apparently) nuggets.
Yum yum!!!!
Been nice since they have been shut , had none of there rubbish chucked in our garden , by the lazy people who can’t be bothered to put in a bin or take it home.
A USP for Mc D’s, would be to emboss each car number plate onto all the packaging as a ‘green ploy’
Then when several of the containers are collected from verges, kerbs, etc, the numbers could be used via number plate recogntion to charge 25% extra for all ‘repeat’ offending vehicles and that cash used to fund green charities.
I would ask for a free meal for this USP idea, but think I will swerve it and take the cash instead.
You can offer to litter pick Dinky!
The fat chavs will be happy .
Now we will see why the chavs kids have to be feed for free at schools, because the fat tattooed slob parents will be spending all the cash on easy, take away slob food, rather than be bothered to cook decent food for the family.
These low life aren’t fit to own a dog, let alone a child.
Quite strange with public health England saying they want to stop fast,( so called food) outlets, another one re-opens We can hope that the one planned for Newport never happens, let see if the Local Council can follow the government line on stopping the spread of these places. As others said an increase in rubbish.
