McDonalds on the Isle of Wight will be serving breakfast for an extra 30 minutes every day from today (Wednesday) as part of a 6-week trial, which could lead to extended breakfast periods across the entire country.
For the first time ever McDonalds are offering those in the UK the chance to grab a McMuffin or perhaps a Breakfast Wrap right up until 11:00. Before now it has been a mad dash to get your order in ahead of the 10:30 cut off, with many missing out by seconds each morning.
Stores in Ryde and Newport are 2 of just 7 fast food restaurants in the country to be testing out the new breakfast hours – the other 5 are all in Portsmouth. It is the first time in the 25 year history of McDonalds breakfast that the hours have been changed.
The news will certainly be welcomed by local tradesmen on the job and those nursing a hangover on a Sunday morning.
If the trial – which runs until 24th July – is successful then the 05:00-11:00 breakfast hours look set to be rolled out nationwide.
Restaurants taking part in the trial include Newport and Ryde, alongside Commercial Road, Cosham, Ocean Retail Park, Fratton Park and North Harbour in Portsmouth.

The chavs will be pleased .
How uneducated are you to say McDonalds only serves chavs? Hahahahahahaha
I’m puzzled!!
People with proper jobs have breakfast before they leave for work and don’t have spare cash for take away breakfast!!
Unless you’re on benifits and illegally working the system!!
Say no more!!
Your full of it today.
At least the benefit takers get another hour in bed!!
Now the rush for the 11am cut-off.
And then off to tesco in grey joggies!
Absolutely pike!
All the benefit takers will have an hour in bed!!
10.30 am watch the rush from Pan heading Micky Ds
That’s if they wake in time!!
That’s nice, give the druggies a lay in. :p
