McDonald’s in Newport is set to reopen next Wednesday following a major refurbishment.
Staff will be welcoming customers back from 10:30 on Wednesday 22nd February, although breakfast lovers will have to wait until the normal time of 05:00 on Thursday.
The store has been closed since 8th January to allow for a modernisation programme to take place.
Following in the footsteps of McDonalds in Ryde, the fast food outlet will now have 6 self service kiosks with table service in a bid to eliminate the lengthy queues often experienced. In addition, charging points have been introduced alongside table-top tablets.
Menu items are now to made to order.
Franchisee Grant Copper, who started his career over 30 years ago and owns and operates 19 restaurants in the area, said:
“The digital makeover is likely to change the way customers use the restaurant. Those who used to pop in for a quick bite are staying longer to use the tech we have on offer. Ordering at the new kiosks makes it easier to think about food choices, whether that’s swapping fries for a side salad, or adding a fruit bag to their children’s Happy meal.
“These changes are designed to make our customers’ experience as positive as possible. The new technology benefits everyone – from providing people with a chance to catch up on their emails in a relaxed environment, to offering mums a quick and easy way of ordering their food.”
“Having already seen customers react positively to these changes in my other restaurants I am excited to hear what my customers in Newport have to say about the new features-and the modern, fresh new look of the restaurant. I’ve been in the business for over 30 years and have seen the McDonald’s experience transform in this time. Our restaurants are designed to suit the needs of people from any background who want to come in, grab a bite to eat or drink and enjoy the atmosphere.
“I am dedicated to investing in the local area and in the development of my employees. The digital makeover isn’t just for the enjoyment of customers, but for staff too. The new staff room benefits from the same facilities that our customers enjoy. The restaurant also has a training area, so we can continue improving the service we offer. I’m confident that this new look restaurant will be a welcome addition to the area and I’m looking forward to welcoming our customers in to show off the changes.”
Currently employing over 115,000 people, with almost 200 people being employed on the Isle of Wight, the company is in its 43rd consecutive quarter of growth thanks in part to evolving the customer experience and its menu offering.
