Motorists travelling through Shanklin will face disruption from Monday (17th June) as the High Street is to be closed for approximately 5 days.
Works by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks means that the main through road will be closed to all traffic between Orchardleigh Road and Steephill Road/Victoria Avenue.
The closure will make it slightly more difficult to transit between the towns of Shanklin and Ventnor, with motorists having to divert via Victoria Avenue/St Johns Road/Brook Road/Carter Avenue in both directions.
The closure is expected to last approximately 5 days, subject to everything going according to plan.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – High Street, Shanklin has now re-opened in both directions.
I cannot believe that this has to be done in the day at such a bottleneck, Arthurs Hill is already closed, and the coaches who are trying to run tours and bring much wanted money to the area are just in great confusion trying to get about. Are we a holiday destination?
