Christmas spirit has come to Newport this weekend with the switching on of the Long Lane Christmas Lights display!
Terry and Sue Ramplin have once again decorated their house with festive lights for the enjoyment of all, with an aim of raising thousands of pounds for charity in the process.
Despite the poor weather throughout the day, a strong crowd gathered on Long Lane last night (Saturday) for the 19th switch on. Thankfully, the rain cleared and the wind died down for an enjoyable evening out.
Seasonal entertainment was provided by The Wight Strollers with the group’s Emily Scotcher pressing the big red button to illuminate proceedings.
This year the display is raising money for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Daisy Chains IW – so big deep and donate generously.
Long Lane Christmas Lights are switched on every evening from around 16:00 until 22:00 between now and the New Year.
Island Echo’s Light up the Wight competition, in associated with Southern Vectis, will be launching on Monday (3rd December). Long Lane is once again our Star Display and is certainly a must visit for those following our special festive map this year. For more information visit www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas.
