Carers IW, YMCA and People Matter IW are hosting an event for local carers in Shanklin on Tuesday 12th June to coincide with Carers Week 2018.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges Carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This year there is a focus on looking at all the ways Carers can be supported to stay Healthy and Connected, building communities which support Carers in their role while recognising that they are individuals with financial, social, health and wellbeing needs of their own.
The campaign is brought to life by the individuals and organisations who come together to organise activities and events throughout the UK, drawing attention to just how important caring is.
Between 10:00-15:00 on Tuesday 12th June, at YMCA Winchester House in Shanklin, an event is being held specifically for local carers.
The day will feature a variety of talks, displays and information stands such as ‘What is Dementia’; ‘Shared Lives’; Moving & Handling for Carers; Lasting Powers of Attorney; all things Financial by Adult Social Care; Telecare; ‘Living Well – What is brokerage & how can it help you’ and ‘Living Well – How a Learning Disability Officer can help and Emotional support for Carers of Adults’.
Refreshments and light lunch will be available on the day and attendees can claim a free lunch if they book by 5th June on 01983 533173.
