LIZ DUNLOP AND CRAIG WILSON TAKE TRIATHLETE HONOURS AT AWARDS EVENING

Super veteran Liz Dunlop won Female Triathlete of the Year and veteran Craig Wilson Male Triathlete of the Year at the Wight Tri Awards Evening at the Castle Inn, Newport.

Liz represented the GB Age group team in the 65-69 category at major World and European Triathlon championships, bringing home 1 gold and 3 bronze medals, as well as 2 gold medals at the English Triathlon sprint and standard championships, and a bronze at the British Standard Triathlon Championships.

Craig has completed several triathlons this season, starting with completing his 1st Ironman event at the Ironbourne Ironman triathlon and finishing a superb 5th position in the 50-54 age category. He also won both the Wight Tri Sprint and Wight Tri Standard Triathlon Championships.

The Duathlete of the Year Award was presented to new member Arielle Elton-Walters, who has shown an amazing commitment to all of the Wight Tri events this season.

The Most Improved Triathlete of the Year award was jointly won by new member Laoise Bennis and Mike Kimber.

Laoise has competed in several triathlons for the 1st time, with an age group win at the Bournemouth Sprint triathlon. Mike has shown a huge improvement in all disciplines to see his sprint and standard distance race times decrease.

The Club Volunteer Award was presented to Neil Cooper and Steve Dines. Both put huge amount of time into the club, with Neil taking responsibility as events Officer to organise and coordinate all the club events. Steve has stepped up as chairman this year and he continues to promote the triathlon club with tremendous enthusiasm and dedication.

The Percy Veerance Award was presented to Ant Mildenhall for completing the Winstanton Ironman Triathlon in horrendous weather conditions.

The Golden Crank Award went to Mike Kimber.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Neil Cooper for his continued support to the club: for his hard work, dedication, and commitment.
