Sculptures of lighthouses are to be displayed on streets and open spaces on the mainland and the Isle of Wight to raise money for a children’s hospital.
Set to hit the streets next year, in the Summer of 2024, the initiative – called Light The South – will hope to raise vital funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital.
Southampton Hospitals Charity has confirmed that a total of 40 sculptures will be split between Southampton and Cowes, all of which are sponsored by local businesses and painted by local artists. Schools will get the opportunity to adopt and design one of 30 mini lighthouses.
Standing at 8ft tall – or 2.4m – the lighthouses will form a trail that will last for a total of 8 weeks.
Red Funnel CEO, Fran Collins, said:
“Red Funnel is immensely proud to be sponsoring the Light the South art trail to support Southampton Hospitals Charity.
“For me personally, I think it is going to be a fantastic way of supporting employee engagement and gives us a different way to communicate and engage with our customers.
“I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for Red Funnel and our partnership with Southampton Hospitals Charity.”
