The Ventor Arts Club will host a special event on 23rd August, when the Island’s favourite blues singer Laurie McVay, performs songs from the ‘American jazz, soul and blues songbook’.
Jazz has been reshaped lately by singers like Gregory Porter and Mario Biondi – stylists who blend jazz with a touch of soul and blues. At the VAC, Laurie will take a similar approach to the songs of Burt Bacharach, Alan Jay Lerner, Stevie Wonder, Grover Washington, Billie Holiday and many others.
Laurie will be accompanied on the 23rd by the virtuoso pianist, Alan Nicholls and supreme jazz bassist, Pete Holder – the Giant Steps Duo.
Doors will open for this free event at 20:00. Club membership is not necessary and all are welcome at 13 High St, Ventnor PO38 1RZ.
