Antony Sher returns to the RSC in Stratford-Upon-Avon to play King Lear, one of the greatest parts written by Shakespeare. The performance will be broadcast live via satellite to Ventnor Arts Club on 12th October as the club’s 2016/17 season continues with a variety of live transmissions featuring theatre, opera, ballet and music.
In one of Shakespeare’s most epic and powerful plays, King Lear has ruled for many years. As age begins to overtake him, he decides to divide his kingdom amongst his children, living out his days without the burden of power. Misjudging his children’s loyalty and finding himself alone in the wilderness, he is left to confront the mistakes in his life that have brought him to this point.
