Staff at Southern Co-Op’s Rookley store are preparing to hang out the bunting for their first ever summer fair during Charity Awareness Week.

The fair will be on Saturday 28th July at the Rookley store itself with a host of activities planned for the whole family.

But it is not just an excuse to get out and enjoy the sunshine as the event will be in aid of Isle of Wight Youth Trust – the store’s chosen charity as part of Southern Co-op’s community engagement programme ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’.

The Summer Fair will be held in the store’s car park from 12:00-16:00 and will include a tombola, hook a duck, raffle prizes, a lolly treasure hunt, sponge a colleague, a lucky dip, guess a name and hoola hoop. There will also be a range of stalls including bric-a-brac, a book stall, home made greeting cards, record sales and a cake sale.

Julia Haynes, Southern Co-op’s Store Manager, said:

“We are all getting excited as this is the first time we have run anything like this but we have had some great support.

“We have a Local Flavours range in store featuring producers across the island and they have generously donated products for the fair. Other local businesses have also got on-board which we are very grateful for.

“Excitingly we will also have one of our duty managers there who used to be the UK champion of cup stacking so he will be showing people how it is done!”
