30-year-old Jamie Simpson has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman in Lake in December, with his trial now set to take place off the Island after receiving ‘death threats’.
Simpson appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court this morning (Monday) charged with 2 offences; grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a bottle.
It is alleged that Jamie Leigh Simpson attacked a 21-year-old woman near Lake Hill on 20th December 2019. The incident was shared widely on social media, with Police then following this up with an appeal to locate Simpson, of Culver Parade in Sandown.
Jamie’s defence told the court that he has received death threats following the incident. An application to the court for the trial to be held on the mainland has been approved by Judge Melville, with Simpson to next appear before Southampton Crown Court on 26th May.
Jamie Simpson remains in custody.

They can still get to him in prison if they want to. It doesn’t matter where his trial is held.
No, he ‘said’ he had death threats just to go to the mainland where the sentence will be less, as they are used to more such violence over there, being filled more with ‘undesirables’ than here, just.
It actually depends on the judge after jury conviction. Remember Ruth Ellis got Havers known as the hanging judge!!Also circuit judges do a circuit funny enough. He could get a judge from anywhere even from the island!!
Really so us taxpayers have to pay for this let’s hope he gets what he deserves
He’ll next claim to identify as a woman and get sent to a female prison. (it happens)
Why should he have any favours passed his way. let his victim decide where SHE wants the trial.
People will still come to Southampton
He will still get KARMA, in prison
