Sarah Powell from Yarmouth took gold in the Women’s Doubles at the Pre European pickleball championships held at The David Lloyd Centre in Southampton.
This follows her success at the English Open in the mixed doubles 2 weeks earlier.
Playing with a scratch partner, Clare McKnight, from Arun, Sarah and Clare topped their group before going on to beat Gilli Macgregor and Wendy Howes, 11-9, 8-11, 11-4 in a nail biting final.
Sarah said after their final:
“I was amazed at how well we played together, having never met before, and so pleased with another gold medal, especially competing against all the competitors from all over Europe.
“All the hard work and practice has definitely paid off.”
Sarah plays at West Wight Sports Centre, which has become a mecca for Pickleball on the Island.
