Wessex Premier Cowes Sports knocked 7 goals past Wessex Division 1 Whitchurch United at Westwood Park to reach the 2nd round of the FA Vase in emphatic style.
The Jam Boys have a poor record against Isle of Wight sides this season, having previously conceded 6 goals against Cowes in the League Cup and losing 4-1 to Newport and 5-2 to Vics in Wessex Division 1.
The 1st half saw the Yachtsmen create chances a-plenty but failing to score until the 44th minute.
4 early scoring opportunities fell to Connor Kelly, all of which he failed to convert. John McKie had the ball in the net on the quarter hour mark, but his effort was ruled offside.
The Jam Boys twice had keeper Nash to thank for thwarting efforts from Connor Kelly and Ryan Nash at full stretch.
Scott Barron finally broke the deadlock a minute from the half time break when he knocked the ball into the goal from the middle of the penalty area after Nash had spilled a powerful effort from West (1-0).

Half time: Cowes sports 1-0 Whitchurch United
The 2nd half was a goal fest for the home side.
In the 53rd minute, Jez Conway scored from 8 yards after Connor Kelly had had his effort parried by Nash (2-0).
4 minutes later, substitute Liam Triggs sent the ball bouncing over the Jam Boys’ keeper from the middle of the penalty area (3-0).

A minute after the hour mark, John McKie dispossessed a defender before dispatching the ball into the far corner of the goal (4-0).
6 minutes later, Ollie West converted a corner from the middle of the penalty area (5-0).
In the 72nd minute, McKie bagged his brace by firing a penalty into the roof of the net (6-0).

VICS SNATCH DEFEAT FROM JAWS OF VICTORY
Vics were beaten by the best of 5 goals by Cove at Beatrice Avenue in Wessex Division 1.
The East Cowes side took the lead against the run of play in the 28th minute when a through ball from Aedan Coode found Josh Neale, who raced through to finish neatly to give Vics a goal advantage at half time (1-0).
Cove came onto the pitch with purpose in the 2nd half. In the 49th minute, a defensive mistake from the home side allowed Denyer to put a killer ball into Luke Edmondson, who sat Ram down in the Vics goal and finished exquisitely (1-1).
Vics didn’t buckle, and a corner from Aedan Coode was met with venom by captain Callum Chase, whose header flew into the Cove net (2-1).
Cove equalised in the 72nd minute when a cross into the box found Edmonson, who bagged his brace (2-2).
4 minutes later, Cove took the lead through a great run, cut back, and shot from Nathan Connolly, which took a wicked deflection, giving Vics keeper Alex Ram no chance (3-2).
Vics were denied a goal scoring opportunity in the 85th minute when Toby Snow went past a defender, but the Cove keeper pulled the youngster back. The referee instantly issued a red card.
Cove put on substitute keeper Roland Szpreh. The resulting free kick was struck beautifully by Reynolds, but the keeper’s first touch was a superb save.
Vics pushed for an equaliser, and a 91st minute header from Harrison Berry was again saved by Szpreh.
Vics’ final chance was a 25-yard effort from Harrison Yates that looked a certain goal, but another great save from Szpreh secured all 3 points for the Aldershot club.

PORT SQUANDER 3 GOAL LEAD IN DORSET
Newport took a point after a run of 6 successive defeats by drawing with Verwood Town.
However, the Port could have taken all 3 points after racing to a 3 goal lead.
With 3 players sent off (including goalkeeper Leon Pitman) the previous Saturday and therefore suspended, Isle of Wight manager Tom McInnes took on goalkeeping responsibilities with veteran Darren Powell also included in the County Town’s starting line up.
Josh Younie opened the scoring for Port with an early goal (0-1). Joe Craig then added a 2nd to give the Port a 2-goal half time advantage (0-2).
In the 70th minute, Newport man-of-the-match Nicky Vyse scored his 1st goal in a yellow shirt to make victory appear certain for the Island side (0-3).
However late goals from Louis McWilliams (’73). Lee-Bradley Haensel (’81), and Dillon King (’88) saw the Potters salvage an unlikely point.
